UAF Traffic is a specialized application aimed at enhancing traffic data collection in rural communities. It facilitates the gathering of turn counts at intersections, making it accessible for individuals to contribute to local traffic studies.
The application offers the flexibility to define up to five categories of vehicles. These range from conventional modes of transportation like pedestrians, bicycles, cars, and trucks to less common vehicles such as four-wheelers, snow machines, dog sleds, and even planes. This diverse selection underscores the app's applicability to unique rural traffic scenarios.
UAF Traffic employs an intuitive drag-and-drop interface, enabling users to easily log vehicle movements. Users can simply drag the designated "vehicle" icon from its point of origin at the intersection towards its travel direction. Each action is recorded within a session that includes relevant intersection details such as the date and identifying names for both the north-south and east-west roads.
Additionally, sessions can be exported in Comma Separated Values (CSV) format, allowing for straightforward analysis in spreadsheet applications. This feature enhances usability for data analysis, making it easier for communities to assess their traffic patterns effectively.
